Researchers from the WDM and IP Network Management (WINMAN) project, with contributions from other projects, address the integration of the IP and the WDM domains, and discuss key aspects of the deployment of these network technologies. The techniques described are intended to enable interoperability between management domains, between heterogeneous network technology, and between service and network management functions in a multiprovider environment. The reference and tutorial is targeted to network and system managers, management vendors, and students and researchers of advanced communications management techniques.
